Investing in clients and investing in our employees are two sides of the same coin for Finalist and therefore go hand in hand. Finalist’s motto is: Never stop developing!
Broad expertise
Finalist supplies solutions in the field of Java technology and open source technology. Our specialists also understand their trade in the field of web services, XML, PHP and Ruby on Rails.
Java is everywhere
How important is Java technology? To give you an idea: Java technology keeps 2.5 billion machines running worldwide. This means over 700 million PCs, 708 million mobile telephones and other handheld devices and 1 billion smartcards. Java can be found in credit cards, set-top boxes, printers, webcams, games, navigation systems for the car, medical instruments and car park machines.
You will find Java technology in all sorts of networks and hardware, from the Internet and scientific supercomputers to laptops. In short it is virtually impossible not to come up against Java technology in daily life all over the world. Java has been extensively refined, extended, tested and proven by an active company of over four million software developers worldwide. Java technology is advanced, exceptionally robust, surprisingly versatile and has become vital for IT specialists.
And so Java has in only ten years become the standard development environment for many of the Top 500 organisations in the Netherlands. Finalist’s Java-certified developers, architects and consultants support these organisations in building their Internet applications.
Open source your solution?
Why would you as a client choose an open source solution instead of a closed package? An increasing number of public authorities, companies and non-profit organisations are intentionally choosing open source solutions. This popularity is not a fluke. Frank Heemskerk, Secretary of State for Economic Affairs thinks that open source must be given preference in public invitations to tender within public authorities. The government is coming up with a plan in 2007 to encourage the use of open source and open standards by public authorities.
Clients are increasingly finding that the dependence on software giants is suffocating, not least because the costs can get out of hand. These clients are also regularly limited by the updates developed by the software giants. If your organisation uses Open Source you will see a cost saving and a higher return on investment. With open source solutions you do not waste any money on expensive licences.
That can be different
Choosing open source solutions means more freedom, more independence from the IT supplier. It does not matter what phase of development your organisation is in. A solution that suits your organisation is always possible.
